Plantar Flexion
Plantar Flexion is when the foot is taken from it's 90 degree angle and lower so the toes face the floor.
The Gastrocnemius' primary function is to be plantar flexed. Every day activities are used by the Gastrocnemius such as running, walking, biking etc.
Sports would be nearly impossible without the Gastrocnemius. Sports such as Baseball, Football, Soccer, etc.
